If you look closely at the lotus lamps featured in this post, you'd notice that they were made from what used to be plastic bags attached to a piece of polystyrene cut into a round shape with a tea candle lamp on top. These lotus lamps were used during the Chap Goh Meh celebrations at the Kinta Riverfront on the 14th day of the Chinese New Year. Those who wish to float the lamps on the Kinta River that night had to buy these lamps and at around 9.00 p.m. they were set afloat.
