STATE LEVEL TEACHER'S DAY CELEBRATIONS

Yesterday, I had to honour of attending the state level Teacher's Day Celebrations on behalf of my principal. It was a really grand affair which was graced by the presence of the Chief Minister and the Education CEO for the state of Perak.
To make the occasion even grander, there was even an orchestra comprising of students and teachers.  Wow!
This pretty little girl was waiting for her turn to present the programmes to the VVIPs.
The programmes
Me with three other teachers from Manjung district.  I think they are the headmistresses of their respective schools.

The Chief Minister, Dato Dr Zambry gave a very touching and interesting speech.  He related how as the son of an illiterate fisherman and a mom who could read a bit of Jawi managed to achieve success because of the determination of his parents and also the good work of his teachers.  He was moved to tears when he related the story of the passing the teacher who taught him when he was in Standard One.  He said that it was because of teachers that he was where he was.  His  tribute to teachers was really inspiring and touching.

Oath Taking Ceremony for teachers.  Note that only those in the teaching profession had their hands up.  The rest are politicians.
