MORTAR AND PESTLE

For the Explorace that was carried out on Wednesday, 8 sets of mortar and pestle were used.  Thank goodness, the teachers in the school were kind enough to loan them for the event.
According to many cooks, ingredients that are pounded using the mortar and pestle would make the food taste better than those that are blended.  Is there any truth to it? Ask any old-timer and they would swear by it.
