PRODUCTS FROM THE SEA

I went with Kamariah to buy some dried anchovies (ikan bilis) this evening.  We went to a shop in Lumut that she frequently goes to get her supply of dried seafood.  Me?  I usually buy them from the shop near my house in Sitiawan.  Anyway, Kamariah has been going there for years and is very familiar with the proprietor and so gets to buy at discounted prices.
It seems that the owner of the shop, an old man, started the business many, many moons ago. He first sold his wares from a shack near the jetty in Lumut and now owns two shop lots.  His children now run the shop.  If you go to the shop, you can see a framed picture of the old chap posing in front of his shack.
I am fortunate to stay very near to Lumut and Pangkor which means that the dried seafood that I buy is fresh and also cheaper.
