THE DRESSMAKER'S SON MAKES GOOD

Looking at him now, most of us would have the impression that he is the scion of a rich family.  Those of us who have watched him in Meteor Garden would perhaps have our judgement influenced by the role of the ultra rich and spoilt Dao Ming Si.   I have seen him in a few dramas and each time he appears as a professional or as someone from a rich family.  Only in Magic Kitchen did he appear as a kitchen apprentice.
In reality, Taiwanese actor-singer Jerry Yan grew up in a single-parent family.  His dad passed away when he was twelve which left his mom to shoulder the burden of raising two children by working as a dressmaker.   Who would guess that the dashing idol with the heart melting dimples who looks like a million dollars any day had to start doing odd jobs when he was in Primary 5 to help with the household expenses. The house that he stayed in was in a bad state and one of the electrical appliances started to leak electricity.
Like many women the world over, I really admire sons who show great love for their mothers.  In a recent interview, Jerry stated that his mother was the most important woman in his life.  He also shared that the deepest impression he had of her was “the view of her back" as she was always sitting down when making clothes while he and his elder sister were doing the chores.
Well, the dressmaker's son has become a famous idol and earns more than enough money for his mom to live very comfortably.  Also, he does not accept any promotional events and advertorials featuring him and his mother to shield her from unwanted invasion into her privacy.  I am really curious to know if he got his drop-dead gorgeous looks from his mom or his late father.  Anybody has any idea?
