JIU HU CHAR

My maternal grandparents were straits born Chinese and that is why from small I have been accustomed to Nyonya cooking.  Last weekend I requested my mum to cook Jiu Hu Char (fried shredded cuttlefish and mengkuang) for me.   It is best eaten with some sambal and wrapped with fresh lettuce.  Pork is added when frying the dish but since I don't take pork, my mum adds shrimps for me.  That is why I will only eat this dish if my mum or Aunt May cooks it as they know my preference.
