GROUNDNUTS

When my late father was alive, he would make sure that he bought lots and lots of packets of groundnuts as gifts for relatives and friends. He was not alone as other Chinese families would also include groundnuts in hampers and gift bags as well. This is because the groundnut represents the birth of prosperity. It signifies continuous growth and multiplication in wealth and good fortune. The groundnut also symbolises health and longevity.
