CALABASH NOODLE SOUP (葫蘆麵 )

Calabash Gourd: Hybrid Green Bell
Calabash: Hybrid Lattoo
Bottle Gourd: Hybrid Extra Long

I still have not gotten the recipe from my friend, Puan Asiah on how to cook the calabash using the Malay style of cooking. However, I did find one for making Hulu Mien. If you can get your hands on some calabash, do try out the recipe.
Ingredients

Calabash
Chicken (can subsitute with seafood or meat)
Soy sauce
Cornstarch
Sugar
Garlic
Chicken/Anchovies Stock
Water
2 Eggs

Method
  1. Peel the calabash and cut into finger-sized strips.
  2. Cut the meat into tiny strips.
  3. Marinate the meat with corn starch, soy sauce, and sugar.
  4. In a wok, stir-fry the meat until it is slightly brown. Remove the meat from the wok.
  5. In the wok, stir-fry the calabash strips and garlic for a couple of minutes.
  6. Place the meat back into the wok and add soup stock, soy sauce, and water
  7. Simmer for a couple of minutes until the calabash strips look tender.
  8. Crack two eggs and pour the white and the yolk into the soup.
    Serve the soup with noodles.
