BELIEFS ABOUT TORTOISES/TURTLES

  • There is a Chinese belief that patting the shell of the tortoise or turtle would bring one luck.

  • This animal is a symbol of longevity and fertility.

  • In parts of Angola, putting a tortoise shell under your door is meant to ward off your rival.

  • Killing a tortoise is believed to bring bad luck to the person who does the bad deed.

  • The Tortoise is one of the four Celestial Animals, or Guardians in feng shui, which are the Green Dragon ( East ), the Red Phoenix ( South ), the White Tiger ( West ) and the Black Tortoise ( North.)

  • Rearing a live tortoise in the home is said to ensure that the family Patriarch lives to a ripe old age.

  • Display a figurine of the tortoise in the north sector of your home to attract lots of good health and prosperity luck, and place on in the north corner of your office for support in your career.

  • The turtle, or tortoise, has the power to heal, and bring you improved health and longevity (long life for you, just like a tortoise.)

  • Turtles have a protective shell that symbolizes protection from negativity.

  • The Dragon Head Tortoise is also called the Lo Shu Turtle or the Money Tortoise. It brings eight different types of heavenly blessings (eight out of the nine Bagua areas - so it can help you with all of your Feng Shui goals), especially wealth, along with abundance, protection, authority, luck, prosperity, and long life.
