Wind chimes or Foong Ling incorporate the concept of the 5 Directions (North, South, East, West & Center) and the 5 Elements namely earth, metal, fire, water and air.
Wind Chimes are a wonderful feng shui "sound cure" - useful both inside and outside your home and business. They are great for stimulating new energy, ridding your life of stagnation and obsticles, and attracting opportunity.
If there is no wind you can always manually manipulate the wind chime to ring as you pass by, as an "instant chi charge" whenever you feel the need.

One must also take note that not all wind chimes bring good luck to the occupants of the house. There are some designs that are not suitable to be hung in the house.
CHIMES TO AVOID
The bell chime (top picture) is not suitable for homes as it is said to attract wandering spirits. You will see a lot of such chimes at temples or monastries where they are best suited to be.Other chimes to avoid are the oblong chime and the uneven chime.
SUITABLE CHIMES
The pagoda windchime is very popular and is said to have the power to disperse evil forces and negative chi. It benefits the occupants of the house. A round tube chime ( left) represents the heavenly shape. It is believed that such a chime would help chase away bad luck and bring good luck to the owner. The Fish Chime is a chime decorated with a fish symbol at the top or bottom. It symbolises good tidings.
