Prayer set for offering on Heaven Pardoning Day

The joss paper for the prayer set are of different colours and each is burnt for a specific purpose, e.g.  for  mentor luck  and romance luck.  The set in the first picture is more expensive as the paper and printing is of better quality.  The paper and printing in the second and third pictures are of lower quality and cost much less.

According to the Chinese Lunar Calendar, today is the 11th day of the 12th lunar month.  This is one of the days in the year which is called Heaven Pardoning Day. There are 7 or 8 such days in a year.  According to Taoist belief, it is on such a day that Heaven pardons those who have sinned and who have done wrong.  It is a day where sinners who are remorseful pray to get a pardon from Heaven.  There are also wrongdoers who seek redress for mitigation, pray that their sentences be mitigated and ask for mercy and charity from the deities.  On such a day, we are to reflect on our life, and confess to our sins. It is a day where prayers will be answered effectively. It is a day of many auspiciousness.On such a day, it is said that the Deities are magnanimous and compassionate to mortals on earth. Those of the Taoist faith would usually go to the temples to pray that they be forgiven for all their trespasses and wrongdoings.
