This is the Apam sold at my school canteen. It is served with grated coconut. The Chinese equivalent is the Fatt Koe or Prosperity Cake. The difference is that the top part of the Chinese version opens out more. That is deliberate to symbolise Fatt (open out) which sounds like prosper.
