A DISH FROM DOWN SOUTH

The noodles plus veges and egg.
The mouth-watering gravy.

One of my favourite Malay food is Laksa Johore which originated from the southern most state in Peninsular Malaysia. This type of Laksa differs from the normal laksa as it has coconut milk. The other ingredients include kerisik, dried prawns, lemon grass (serai), galangal and other types of spices. For the garnishing, one might find slices of onion, bean sprouts, long beans, bunga kantan and cucumber. Sambal belacan and half a lime are placed on the side of the dish. Before eating, one can squeeze the lime juice on the dish and also add the sambal. Another unique feature of Laksa Johore is that it uses spaghetti instead of the normal noodles.

After more than a month of not eating Laksa Johore which is sold at the school canteen, I once again got to savour this delicious dish from down South. Each plate is sold at RM2.50. Very reasonably priced, right?
