REVIEW OF K-DRAMA "SECRET GARDEN"

I finished watching the K-drama, "Secret Garden" (我的秘密花園) a couple of days ago.  What did I think of it?  WOOOOW!!!  It is no wonder that it got so many people hooked on it.  It is truly very entertaining and interesting.

Before I go on, do read the synopsis below to get an idea of what the drama is about.

Synopsis

The drama tells the story of Kim Joo Won (Hyun Bin), an arrogant and eccentric CEO who maintains the image of seeming perfection, and Gil Ra Im (Ha Ji Won), a poor and humble stuntwoman whose beauty and body are the object of envy amongst top actresses. Their accidental meeting, when Joo Won mistakes Ra Im for actress Park Chae Rin, marks the beginning of a tense, bickering relationship, through which Joo Won tries to hide a growing attraction to Ra Im that both confuses and disturbs him. To complicate matters further, a strange sequence of events results in them swapping bodies.

WHAT I THINK OF "SECRET GARDEN"
The much talked about Sit-up scene.
First of all the four main actors and actresses were really good looking and talented.  Gawd!  Putting good looking people who can REALLY ACT in a well written romantic drama based on fantasy was indeed the winning formula.  Fantasy though this piece may be but Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won made it really believable through their brilliant portrayals of the characters Kim Joo Won and Gil Ra Im.  The most interesting and hilarious part of the drama was when they first had their souls switched with their bodies.  The acting of both the male and female leads was truly amazing.  The events that transpire when they discover that they are in each others body is really quite rib tickling. They stay switched for quite sometime and had to lead and cause havoc with each others lives. They switch back after a few episodes and after that the tone of the story becomes more serious where one gets quite a few scenes where both Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won had to really strain their tear ducts.  To me it was the wonderful chemistry between the two leads which gave this show the Oomph factor.  They make for a great screen couple.  Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won deserve two thumbs up for brilliantly portraying such complex roles so convincingly.
The down side of the movie was that certain parts were a bit draggy, especially those that did not have Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won in them.  Nevertheless, this makes for a very entertaining and interesting watch.  Would I want to watch the whole drama for a second time?  Hmm ... perhaps a scene here and a scene there but not the drama in its entirety.  I'd say yes to rewatching "He's Beautiful" and "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" but not so much for "Secret Garden".
