AUSPICIOUS AND INAUSPICIOUS DOOR DIRECTIONS FOR THE NEW YEAR

The above picture is the front facade of a shop in Ipoh.  It has already closed for the lunar new year holidays and will only open on an auspicious date according to the Chinese almanac.
The Chinese are super particular when it comes to what is auspicious and what is not.  This also goes for door directions during the first day of the Lunar New Year.  Once the clock hands reach the numeral 12, it would mean the dawn of a new year and with it new energies.  Now these energies can be good and bad.  That is why it is important to take note of door directions during this time.
One must remember to try not to open a door if it is facing a bad direction as this might augur ill for the coming year.  If possible, only open the doors facing good directions and avoid those that are bad.  If this is impossible, then there is one method that I learnt from Feng Shui Master Jason Eng.   He said to hold a cleaver or a chopping knife in one hand and then open the door facing the bad direction. Then one has to use the cleaver and cut into the thin air three times.  According to him, this would help to dispel the bad energies.

Here are the door directions to take note of for the first day of the Chinese New Year.

God of Wealth Direction:  North
God of Happiness Direction:  Northeast
God of Mentor (Nobleman) Direction:  North
Wicked Deity Direction:  North
5 Ghost Direction:  North
Death Door Direction:  South

Note:  Since the North Direction has both Good and Bad stars, it should be avoided.  So the best direction is Northeast.  All the other directions not mentioned are neutral.
