Tambun is famous for pomeloes and Ipoh people would usually buy them as gifts for their relatives or friends who come a-visiting. My nephew Kris loves them and each time he is in town, I will go to a shop in Tambun to buy him pomeloes that are freshly plucked from the trees. This way they will keep longer. Besides, the pomeloes cost cheaper.
When I was buying pomeloes, I came across two big ones. They were sold at only RM5 as the shopkeeper said they were ripe already. The normal sized ones which I bought for Kris cost RM6.00 each. Anyway, the shopkeeper told me not to judge the mishapened pomeloes by the way they look. It seems that they are very sweet.
