A couple of weeks ago, Lai Yoong and I visited the Thrangu Dharma Retreat Centre which is located behind the Jade Emperor Temple in Gunung Layang-layang. We actually went up Gunung Layang-layang to pray and meditate at the Jade Emperor Temple and afterwards, I wanted to show Lai Yoong the stupa at the retreat next door. I would go and offer prayers there if the gates are not closed.  Also I wanted to check out the building of the new retreat.

We were really fortunate as on that day we met with the chairperson of the Retreat Centre, Madam Lee Lai Keen. It just so happened that she was there and saw me walking around the stupa.  She was so happy to see as and volunteered to show us around.

Madam Lee told us that the reconstruction of the main building of the Thrangu Dharma Retreat Centre, which was previously a Taoist temple, is near completion. The temple committee has started seeking sponsorship for the construction of a 10 feet Maitreya Buddha (Future Buddha) and Green Tara since the beginning of the year and this endeavour has met with good response.  For your information, whatever extra and future contributions will go towards other necessary unfinished tasks.

You can see the partly completed statue in the pictures above.
