15TH DAY OF THE 8TH LUNAR MONTH

Today is the 15th day of the 8th lunar month.  We Chinese refer to it as the Mid Autumn Festival.  It is believed that on this day the moon is the “biggest” and “brightest” in the whole year.

This festival considered as the reunion festival. There are a lot of beautiful legends surrounding this Festival, such as Jade Rabbit, Chang Er (the Moon Goddess).

The Mid Autumn Festival is sometimes referred to as the Moon Cake festival.  Traditionally the Chinese people gather together at the moon night watching the moon and eating moon cakes. Mid Autumn is the day of praying to the Moon Goddess for reunion, safety and harmony.
