OF WORKING IN THE GARDEN AND RESPECT FOR THE BELIEFS OF OTHERS

Since this is the month of Ramadan, the Muslims in the college fast from dawn till dusk everyday.  Yesterday morning, there was a session with an Iman from Gaza for the Muslims and it was not compulsory for the non-Muslims to attend.  So I asked the boys and girls to help me at the Herb Garden.  Furthermore, they are not fasting and so would be more energetic.
Some of them did the pruning, others helped add sand to the walkway and some helped to clear some rubbish for me.
Actually this is a good activity for them as they get to exercise and add the same time work in natural surroundings.
After helping me for about 40 minutes, the boys and girls asked for permission to have their breakfast near the Herb Garden.  They know that their Muslim friends are fasting and so as not to be rude, they do not eat and drink in front of them.
Young though my students may be, they are matured enough to respect the beliefs and practices of other from another religion unlike Alvin and Vivian, the two notorious bloggers who have shown utter disrespect during the holy month of Ramadan.
