Following tradition, the birth announcement of the new royal baby born to Prince William and his wife, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge was placed on a golden easel outside Buckingham Palace.
The announcement read,
"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24 p.m. today.
Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."
