LIPSTICK PLANT



My Aunt saw this plant at the nursery and advised me to buy it as she said it looked pretty.  We were told that it was known as the lipstick plant.  When I looked at the flowers, I didn't make the connection why it was named such.
However I soon realised why it got such a name when the buds burst out from the calyx which I thought was the flower.  Obviously it does look like a lipstick.
Here is how the flowers look like when they are in full bloom.  Such a pretty plant.  I am glad that I listened to my aunt.
