LEMONS, LIMES AND KAFFIR LIMES

I simply loooove citrus fruits especially lemons, limes and kaffir limes.  It is not that I fancy eating them but more for their smell.  That is why I love buying lemons, limes and kaffir limes and placing them on the altar or on the dining table.  When I am feeling tired or sleepy, I'd go take a lemon and smell it to liven me up.  It is a known fact that these type of citrus fruits work as mood enhancers because they contain folate which helps create serotonin.  So what is serotonin?  It is what scientists have labelled as  "the brain’s happy chemical". Studies show that the citrus smell of fruits like lime, orange and grapefruit can lift the mood and increase energy levels. Instead of the fruits of the limes or lemons, their essential oils can be applied at the back of the neck to enhance alertness.

Of all the citrus fruits, my favourite is the lemon.  It is very cleansing, uplifting and refreshing. A lemon will purify negative emotions. As an additional bonus lemon offers clarity to the mind.

A study on citrus fruits has shown that the scent coming from orange, sweet limes and lemons can reduce anxiety and depression. And don't forget, these fruits are rich in Vitamin C.
