NIPPLE FRUIT

I bought this Nipple Fruit Plant from the Farmer's Market in Kampung Koh, Sitiawan.  Three ladies who saw me carrying the plant asked me for its name in Chinese.  To them the fruit of this plant is used as offering to the House Deity since it is golden in colour.
I told the ladies that besides being grown as an ornamental plant for its unique fruit, the plant also has a few medicinal properties. In traditional Malay medicine, the Nipple Fruit or Terung Susu Kambing is used to treat hypertension, diabetes, piles and breast cancer.
The fruit cannot be eaten raw as it is poisonous.  What one needs to do is to poke a hole at the bottom part of the fruit.  Then put it to boil.  One is to drink two glasses of the infusion a day.  By the way, the juice of the fruit can be used for washing clothing.
