RED UNDERGARMENTS TO ADVANCE CAREER LUCK???

During the Lunar New Year, the sales of red undergarments would usually go up.  Why is this so?  According to Chinese folklore, anyone who wears red undergarments during the Chinese Lunar New Year will enjoy good luck for the whole year.  One article I read from the Internet reported that red bras, thongs or underpants are believed to do more than boost the wearer's gambling luck. Many believe that wearing red during the holidays would bestow Lady Luck's good graces on the wearer for the whole year, bringing blessings and success.

There was this article from the Asian Entertainment website about  singer William Chan disclosing in an interview that Gillian Chung had given him a pair of red underpants. He said "Ah Gill told me I have to wear something red underneath for the Chinese New Year. It would advance my career. I told her I don't have any red underpants, so she gave me a pair of as present." He also said that Ah Gill reminded to wear red underpants for a few days continuously. As he hasn't got another pair to change, he wore that for a few days.  YUCKS!!! So unhygienic.
