The Chinese Lunar New Year is about 5 weeks away. As usual the peddlars at the market and pasar malams (night markets) would be selling decorations for this festive occasion.
Since the coming year is the year of the Tiger, I wanted to buy a wall decoration with a tiger in it. When I was choosing from the decorations, one of the ladies there reminded me to choose a tiger that was not ferocious looking. The Chinese believe that it it not advisable to have images or statues of fierce animals in house as its spirit or essence might cause problems to the household later on. Well, I am superstitious about such things and so I chose cute little tiger cubs which I guess would not do much harm.
