ROSE AND BOUGAINVILLEA

The Rose in the first picture is the name of the girl and the bougainvillea is the name of the plant that she is posing next to. Many of the bougainvillea plants in my school have flowers of two or more colours. This is because of bud-grafting.
When the flowers are in full bloom, they look very pretty. The plant above has lost a lot of flowers due to the rain. It actually thrives when the weather is hot and sunny.

Here are some facts about the bougainvillea.
  • It is actually named for a French navigator.

  • The bougainvillea is the national flower of Guam.

  • It is also known as paper flowers or bunga kertas in the Malay language.
