COVERED FRONT PORCH

I notice that some of my neighbours would make extensions to cover their porches when they have some extra money to spare. My next door neighours, for instance, covered up their entire porch with awning when her husband won some money in gambling a couple of years ago.

Actually it is extremely bad feng shui to cover up the entire porch as the compound and driveway would be dark. There will be less light meaning that the place will be more yin than yang resulting in the possibility of the residents suffering from ill-health and also their wealth luck might be affected.
