In some Asian cultures, the coconut is considered a divine fruit and has been accorded a special status in some ceremonies, example during pooja ceremonies and also during Thaipusam. I remember my aunt Linda asking a fortune teller why my car number has never ever been drawn in any of the Malaysian pools and the advice given was to wash the number plates of my car with coconut water. The Taoist believe the coconut has the power to cleanse away bad luck or negative vibes. The act of washing the plates with the water from a young coconut would sort of get rid of the bad Qi and also 'give light' to the registration number.
