When the Chinese visit the graves of their ancestors during the Ching Ming period, they must first pray to Da Bo Gong whose idol is enshrined at the graveyard. This is a form of etiquette and a display of respect of the earth deity. The Da Pa Gong is the chief deity in charge of the graveyard or cemetery and so the tomb sweepers must first offer prayers to the head of the territory before proceeding to pray to their ancestors.
