During the Chinese New Year, one will see the word 'fu' 福 meaning good fortune hung or pasted in many Chinese households. Many people like to paste the word upside down as they play on the word 'upside down' which sounds like come. So an upside down fu can be symbolic of fortune coming to my home when placed there.
