AUSPICIOUS LIME PLANT

The Chinese believe that lime trees invite good luck into the home. This is because the word for lime is ‘kat’ which signifies abundance and prosperity. The kumquat would be extra auspicious because it means golden auspice. Therefore, it is not surprising that many Chinese homes would have a pot or two of the lime tree.
Look at the pictures of the lime trees that I managed to snap when I went plant shopping with my mum for the coming Lunar New Year. There were different types of limes and the green, yellow and orange coloured fruits looked so pretty. Mind you. They don’t come cheap. The pots of lime plant that I am pictured with cost RM168.00 each. I notice that many Chinese homes would have two pots of lime trees flanking each side of their front doors to usher in good luck. In addition, the lime is also said to be able to absorb bad Qi.
