PERSIMMON 柿子



Each morning when I send my mum to the market, I would notice the attractive orange coloured persimmons on sale. A few weeks ago, the fruit was sold at RM10.00 for 10. Now, the price has dropped and one can get 13 for RM10.00.
Here are some health benefits of the persimmon:
  1. They are rich in potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus, and are good to use in a soft diet.
  2. In traditional Chinese medicine the fruit regulates ch'i.
  3. The raw fruit is used to treat constipation and hemorrhoids, and to stop bleeding. As such, it is not a good idea to consume too many persimmons at once as they can induce diarrhea.
  4. The cooked fruit is used to treat diarrhea and dysentery.
