My nephew, Kristofer Wong, loves pomeloes. Whenever, he comes to Ipoh, I would make sure that he gets his fill of this particular citrus fruit. The Tambun area in Ipoh is famous for pomeloes (yòuzi (柚子) in Chinese) and I would usually get my supply from there. Today, Kris decided to go with me to select his own pomeloes. For your information, I brought him to a pomelo farm when he came at the beginning of this year and he was one happy little boy when he saw his favourite fruit growing on the trees.
By the way, the Chinese like to give their friends and relatives pomeloes during festivals like Chinese New Year and the Mid Autumn Festival as the word for pomeloes in Chinese is homophonous to that of the word 'blessings'. As far as Kris is concerned, you can present him with pomeloes the whole year round and he'd welcome them with open arms.
