One of my colleagues, Puan Rosnani, told me that Saturday and Sunday are family days and it is during this time that she spends quality hours with her three daughters and husband. I couldn't agree with her more. It is during the weekends that I find time to be with my mum, aunt, sisters, nephews and niece. As not all my family live in Ipoh and only come back occasionally, I make it a point to be with them a lot. I try to spend a lot of time with my eldest nephew, Jeremy, as he will be going to study in Tunku Abdul Rahman College in the middle of May and I will of course be seeing less of him. His brother Benjamin is one I don't get to see a lot as on Saturdays he goes to church for activities and to attend service on Sundays.
This weekend my godsister, Sophie, came back with her two children and of course I had a fun time playing with my little nephew and niece, James and Jamie.
What I am harping at is that we should treasure our family and try and spend as much time as we can with them. By being with them I don't just mean being in the same house but doing different things. I mean spending quality time where there is lots of interaction and communication. Let me give you some examples. On Saturday, I picked my Aunt Linda and nephew Jeremy from their respective homes. We then went out for lunch with my mum at the Mamak Stall. After the meal, we went home and I chatted with Jeremy about computers and then he helped his grandma with some household chores. He went home at around 4.00 p.m. as he needed to go to work at around 5.30 p.m. Later my mum, sister and I went to my godsister's house when we got a call that they had arrived. We played with the children and then later had dinner together. My godsister's mum, my Aunt May, gave me a birthday treat. On Sunday we went shopping together.
