FIFTEENTH DAY OF THE LUNAR MONTH

Today is the fifteenth day of the third lunar month. At night the moon will be at its roundest and fullest. On this day the Taoists and Buddhists would have special prayers and offerings to their deities and Lord Buddha. Some would go on vegetarian diets for a day while others abstain from taking meat until noon.
The above photos were taken on Saturday, the fourteenth day of the lunar month. In Ipoh, stalls are usually set up a day before in areas to sell fruits, flowers and cakes to devotees who would buy them as offerings for their house deities or to the Taiost or Buddhist temples. I drove my mum to the stalls set up outside the Ipoh Garden Post Office to buy fruits, cakes and flowers as offerings. My Aunt Linda who is a Christian just went along with us to buy yam cakes. Believe me, the yam cakes sold there are really delicious.
