FENG SHUI AND FLOWERS

The Resource Centre of my school will be holding an exhibition on flowers in April and my colleagues, Grace and Asiah, are in-charge of it. As I am the supervisor of the resource centre, I need to pitch in to make it a success. I was looking up the common names of different types of flowers and I chanced upon articles about Feng Shui and flowers. I am sure many of us would already know that flowers like the peony and peach blossom are purported to help induce romance luck. That is common knowledge, right? I have also done a couple of posts on the use of flowers to get rid of negative qi or bad luck by cleansing our chakras. Now I have found out more and I am sharing it here with you:
Feng Shui and Flowers
Feng shui is about the flow and the containment of qi. Good feng shui involves balancing the yin and yang, the flow of chi which is the flow of energy in nature, in our environment and within our bodies with the use of the five elements.
What is Feng Shui with Flowers?
The idea of Feng Shui with Flowers is applying traditional Feng Shui principles using the five elements found in nature; water, wood, fire, earth and metal together with flowers to create a better living environment. With better understanding of the art of placement, we can utilise the energy of flower remedies for better health and wealth.

THE FIVE ELEMENTS

ELEMENT-DIRECTION-COLOUR
wood........... east .................green
fire ..............south................red
earth........... centre .............yellow
metal ...........west ...............white
water........... north.............. black/blue

The use and positioning of flowers in the home are suggested to improve the flow of beneficial energy, under the guidelines of Feng Shui.

  • A white vase with red or pink fresh flowers on the bedside table will bring more romance into ones life.
  • Jasmine is the plant of friendship and a good gift to take when visiting.
  • Peonies strengthen male energy. They are emblems of loyalty and affection; and can strengthen the heart and prevent blood disorders and congestions. Peonies with plenty of flowers and leaves are an omen of good fortune.
  • Chrysanthemums bring laughter and happiness to your home. Chrysanthemums are associated with a life of relaxation and retirement.
  • The Narcissus is known as the Water Fairy. Grown from bulbs and forced into bloom exactly at the new year, it brings good luck for the next twelve months.
  • Lilies, considered one of the eight treasures, are regarded as an emblem of summer and abundance, and are very favourable flowers to have in the home.
