Malaysians might recognise the man in the photo as he is Dr Lim Keng Yaik, the former president of the Gerakan party. To my sister, Li Mei, and I, we know him as the kindly doctor who treated us when we were children and he had not entered the political arena yet. We met him again today when he was lending his voice to the Barisan Nasional candidates who will be contesting in the 12th Malaysian Elections. I must clarify that my family and I are not members of any political party but we will carry out our duties as citizens by voting for people who will best serve our nation. In the first picture above, my sister is posing in front of the booth set up to assist people in finding out their polling stations on Election Day.
