TIPS FOR THE NEW YEAR

Here are some tips to start 2008 off with a bang.
  1. Greet your family members, friends and guests with a hearty “Gong Xi Fa Chai!” This is the greeting for the auspicious day, and it is translated to “have a happy and prosperous new year!”
  2. Members of the household should try wearing eye-popping red clothes for Chinese New Year. Red is a bright, happy color and is believed to be able to bring the wearer a sunny and bright future. Many people also believe that the appearance and attitude we put forth during New Year’s Day sets the tone for the whole year. So remind everyone to dress and act their best!
  3. Keep knives, scissors and other sharp implements in drawers or simply keep them out of sight. These items are very unlucky for the Chinese New Year, since it is believed that they can shred one’s luck into pieces.
  4. If you can, pay off all your debts. This is a very auspicious action for the Chinese New Year, since it denotes to the tying up of past problems and issues.
