Most of the Buddhist and Taoist temples around the world are usually very busy during this time of year as large numbers of people visit them throughout the fifteen days. They will use incense or joss sticks to pray for good luck, good health, peace, happiness and success. Some go to the temples before midnight on Lunar New Year's Eve for at the stroke of midnight they attempt to be the first to place their incense sticks into the censer, as another long-standing tradition states that the first person to do so stand to have a very prosperous year ahead.
Like quite a number if Chinese, I would visit the temples to offer prayers to the deities and ask for their blessings for a good year ahead. I especially make sure that my mother comes along so that she will be blessed with good health and long life. This year I have visited three temples so far. On the first day, my mum and I went to the Siamese temple along Tambun Road. On the second day, we managed to go to two temples around the Hillcity area. Besides praying and making wishes, we also took quite a lot of pictures. I am posting a few of the 190 photos I took on the second day of the year of the Rat. What do you think? Are you moved to visit these tourist attractions too after seeing the lovely pictures I published here?
