NGA KU PLANT

The Nga Ku or Arrowroot bulbs that I planted on the 16th day of the 12th lunar month is growing nicely.  This day is called Mei Ngar by the Chinese.  When my Aunt May was alive she'd always plant nga ku bulbs (Sagittaria trifolia L.) and would remind me to do the same.  She said that when planted during this day it will grow in time for Chinese New Year. The Chinese arrowhead root is a swamp vegetable, like the lotus root and water chestnut. Its growth signifies the beginning of spring and symbolizes prosperity.
