True compassion: Elephants are among the most emotional creatures in the world. they have been known to rescue other animals such as trapped dogs and cats. Actually that was how Sitiawan got its name through the compassion and loyalty of one elephant. It seems that two elephants were travelling on a boat along a river in what is now Sitiawan, one fell and the other jumped in to try save its friend. Unfortunately both drowned. This incident was seen by the fishermen who gave the place its name.
