RATTAN WARE

Rattan ware hold a special fascination for me as they remind me of my childhood.  When I was in primary school, my mum would buy me a rattan basket to be used as a school bag.  I think I used the basket until I was in Form 1.  After that, the basket was used less and less.
In the above pictures, you can see pillows made from rattan.  They look very airy but not too comfortable for the head.  Then there is the picnic basket, the Moses basket, 2 handbags and some containers.  Mind you, these items take time to weave.  Unfortunately, this handicraft is dying out as not many young people are interested in rattan craft.
