POOR LITTLE DARLINGS

The smiles on the faces of the little children I am pictured with belie their unfortunate circumstances in life.  Some of them are not actually orphans but abandoned children whose parents left them at the Home and never returned for them.  A couple of the older girls have no birth certificates as their parents did not bother to register their births and so they could not enrol in government schools.  The people at the Home are doing their best to get these children registered but the red tape is making it difficult.
Each time Lai Yoong and I visit the children at the Vision Home, we hear of their plight and feel very sad.  What can the two ordinary aunties do?  We can just visit, bring food for the children and buy them presents. Really I do feel really helpless.

Madu is 6 years old but looks more like a 3 year old.  She came to the Home 6 months ago.
