VISIT TO GUNUNG LANG IPOH PART I

Over the years I have been to quite a number of tourist attractions in Ipoh but last Sunday was the first time I visited Gunung Lang.  Of course, I brought my Aunt Linda along so that she could enjoy the fresh air and have a stroll in such beautiful surroundings.
This "Back to Nature" Park is located just north of Ipoh off Jalan Kuala Kangsar and is easily accessible by road. It has a lake surrounded by greenery and limestone outcrops. The lake was converted from a disused mining pond. Information on the park has it that Gunung Lang was first identified and adopted by the Rotary Club of Ipoh for development into a family recreational park. The people involved in developing this sanctuary aimed preserve its natural beauty as much as possible. For nature lovers, there are about 100 plant species at the site.
This park was opened in October 2000 and was closed after a couple of years for renovation and reopened in 2004. There is a man-made cascading waterfall (which operates a few hours daily) with a large sign that is lighted up at night.
