I am showing off the pitcher plant that I bought last weekend. I bought it for a bargain at RM20. Isn't it a beauty? Some Chinese believe that this plant will bring wealth luck as the Cantonese name for it is "Chu Loong Yup Sui" (Water entering the Pig Cage). In Chinese water is symbolic of money.
I am not too sure about the wealth part but I know for sure that this is an insect eating plant and so will get rid of mosquitoes. It is a known fact that the Pitcher Plant likes to eat insects to get the nutrients it does not absorb from the soil it is in.
