ROASTED CHESTNUT WITH SMALL STONES




I just love to eat chestnuts but I have a tendency to suffer from gas (wind) after consuming them.  Sometimes, eating them causes me to get headaches.  
Recently I saw roasted chestnuts being sold at the Ramadan Bazaar at the Ipoh Stadium and couldn't resist buying them.  In the picture, the chestnuts are roasted the in a huge wok filled along with tiny pebbles (black stones) in a very huge flame.  It seems that these nuts are fried with small stones because they need the small stones to get rid of germs. It will get cooked faster if it is fried with small stones. The pebbles or stones allow the chestnuts to fry because the density and moving heat is conducted.
