PITCHER PLANT
The two pots of pitcher plant cost RM100. No! I did not buy them but saw them at the Chinese Massage Sifu's house. His wife was the one who paid a tidy sum for them. She told me she had long admired this plant and wanted it to catch insects.
Actually, some retailers are marketing them as auspicious plants. The Chinese name is called Chu Loong Yup Sui or Water Entering the Pig's Cage, since the water in the cup can be interpreted as “money in the wallet,” symbolising wealth and prosperity. By the way, Chu Long Yup Sui can also taken to phonetically sound like “pearl and dragon enter water.”
The thing is some geomancers have said that plants are not part of traditional Chinese feng shui, and whether or not they are displayed in the house is inconsequential to the feng shui of the area. This all boils down to it being a marketing ploy that plays on the Chinese name of the plants.
