PAPER CUTTINGS FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR

During Chinese New Year, some Chinese houses would put up "Contrapuntal Couplets" on their doorways to usher in the new year. These couplets which are a part of the Chinese New Year decorations are known as Chun Lian. One can get easily buy them from the markets and supermarkets days or weeks before the festival.  The ones shown above come in a set of three, the couplets for the left and right side of the door and one above the door frame.  They all bear messages of peace, good luck and wealth.  One set sells for RM8.
I am contemplating on getting myself one set for my door for the dragon year.  I couldn't do so for the year of the Rabbit as the 5 Yellow Star was located in the East where my house faces.  Decorating the place in red might activate this inauspicious star.  Next year, the East sector is auspicious again and I can put up all the red stuff again.
