ARE WINDOW AND DOOR GRILLS BAD FOR THE HOUSE?

Here in Malaysia we would usually install grills or security bars on our windows and doors for protection against burglars.  The question is whether the grills or security bars are good for bad feng shui for the house?

Hmm ... in Feng Shui terms, the windows are known as the eyes of the home. Therefore having such security bars is not good Feng Shui.  It is akin to being behind bars.  However, they are a necessity here in Malaysia for without them thieves and burglars would easily break into our homes.

So what to do?  One way is to soften the effect of the bars.  On the outside, one can add flower boxes for the windows.  Place some potted plants near the grilled door is another way of softening the effect.  Nowadays some houses have grills with patterns instead of bars to give it a softer look.
