The English name for Bunga Kantan is Torch Ginger Flower. One would be able to connect why it is so called as its edible red flower looks like a flaming torch. There are actually a few colours for this flower. I have seen the pink, white and red types so far. However, some cooks say that Torch Ginger flowers, whose buds are pink in colour, are highly aromatic.
I bought the two stalks of red ginger at the supermarket. My friend Sazali who saw me choosing the flowers asked if I was going to make Laksa. I told him that I was going to use them for my floral bath.
